The Influence of The Outsiders

I fell in love with The Outsiders at 13. I have since fell in love with every form of it. Recently, I had the opportunity to see the Broadway show adaptation. Seeing these words that changed my adolescent mind performed live has brought back my adoration for the book.

I have now found and finished more of S.E. Hinton’s novels and remember how drawn in I am by her writing. It is so raw and complex and somehow always fits into pieces of my life, no matter at what age, no matter how little I have in common with the situation. I somehow always see myself in her characters.

Almost 10 years ago, when I first found read her work, it made me want to write. Now, freshly an adult and still so emotionally connected, it makes me want to write. I write professionally and I write for myself, but I am now rediscovering my passion and desire to write creatively.
